thankful.

I feel the need to say that I'm thankful today.

Thankful for a husband who cares for me so well. Thankful for the most amazing parents who are still together and still love each other deeply. Thankful for sisters who double as best friends. Thankful that I've never gone hungry. Or been without a home. Thankful for wonderful friends who feel more like family. Thankful for a good job. Thankful for freedom to worship my savior. Thankful for peace and hope that passes understanding. Thankful for our two dogs who bring such joy to our lives. Thankful for a new house. Thankful that I don't even think twice about how I'll get to work in the morning or if I'll have food to eat or clothes to wear. Thankful that we are abundantly blessed.

I don't know why we are, but Lord I'm thankful. So thankful.

birthday adventure day.

the first post!

welcome to my new blog! i've tried to be a blogger before and haven't been the best at it, but i have faith in myself this time around. i want this little online (not so private) diary to be the keeper of our memories. i dont want to lose the little day to day things that might slip my mind years from now. it's like xanga, but way better, you know?

anyways, today was lucas' birthday/adventure day. we started out with a delicious breakfast at room 39. if you havent been there, you really need to go. the food was so tasty and the atmosphere had lucas and i dreaming of a trip to italy. they can be expecting frequent visits from the larson's.

after brunch we headed out to lawrence, ks for a day of exploring. i gave lucas a book called "daytrips from kansas city" and let him pick our destination for the day. we both realized we hadn't seen much of lawrence despite our occasional trips, so we headed that way. just a few photos from the day:

to top it all off, we saved the biggest adventure for last...we are now the parents of two baby shepherd mix puppies named finnegan and isla larson. call us crazy, but we're in love. 

annnd then my lovely little sister made lucas a homemade apple birthday pie! she's the best.
